I am still on ISA 2000 so I have no direct upgrade path to 2006.  I'd like to stage my install ISA 2006 using a virtual to setup configuration, then export that config into the physical box.

The current ISA server name is CORP-ISA with multiple internal/external IP's on it.  Here is my thoughts

1) Load up new VM in VMware named CORP-ISA2 and install ISA2006, get the box fully patched/updated/etc
2) Take the above box off the network and setup all the appropriate internal/external IP's on it, keep the same name of CORP-ISA3
3) Fully configure ISA with all my rules, definitions, sets, etc.
4) Export the configuration
5) Load the physical box with ISA2006 using the original name of CORP-ISA and the IP's.
6) Import the configuration

Will this work?  What about the fact that I'm using a config from 1 box named CORP-ISA2 and want to import into another named CORP-ISA.  Is this an issue?  What option do I have for working around this?  Does ISA2006 integrate into AD schema in a way where I have those kind of issues to deal with?

Hi HD,

Yes, that will work. I do the same thing on a regular basis.

HTH,
Tom

Hello,

Is this procedure valid to ISA 2000 Ent. and ISA 2006 Ent. (on the same domain)?
Can they coexist without problems?
ISA 2006 modifies ISA 2000 schema settings or creates new ones?

Thanks a lot

Angel Rey

ISA 2006 makes no changes to the AD schema because it uses ADAM for the CSS.

HTH,
Tom

ISA 2000 and ISA 2006 EE can co-exist, but you can't manage them together or mix them in the same arrays.
