How can I configure a static route on ISA Server 2004? I need to route certain private traffic to a different router on the perimeter.

Tom,

I am desperate with the ROUTE command on the ISA server .. cannot get it working...

internal (local) network 192.168.1.x

remote network 192.168.5.x

the ISA is 192.168.1.2

traffic to the remote network has to go thru 192.168.1.1 and not the gateway on the external interface of the ISA

So I try to ROUTE on the ISA

ROUTE add 192.168.5.0 mask 255.255.255.0 192.168.1.1 -p

the command itself is sucessful, I can see the route with route print.
However I cannot ping the remote gateway nor a computer in the remote network.

The same command on a local computer works and the route also works.

AS far as I can recall, it once has worked, so
I am afraid I misconfigured the ISA.
What I did was creating a ISA-to-ISA VPN to the remote network and then deleted it again.

Any hints?

Thanks
Oskar

Is 192.168.5.0 through 192.168.5.255 in the properties of the Internal Network?

If you are receiving the response...

Request Timed Out
Destination Host Unreachable
Destination Host Unreachable
Destination Host Unreachable

Then this is the typical behavior of the Network not being defined correctly.

The interface on the route command should be:
192.168.1.2 not 192.168.1.1
