Forgive me if this is a newbie-ish question:

I want to usa ISA purely as a firewall for incoming Spam to my ex2k server. (Our organization has a gateway that allows full incoming/outgoing traffic -no firewall)

I'm planning to configure my exchange server as a SecureNat client, and I want to use the Spam filter method addressed at http://www.isaserver.org/tutorials/Using_ISA_to_block_specific _domain_names_from_emailing_your_organization.html.

My question is: What is the step-by-step for configuring ISA for only this purpose (what defaults would I remove), and do I need to do anything at the exchange box other than make the gateway IP in network settings point to my ISA box?

Thanks,
Brian

Hi Brian,

You need to configure the ISA Server with the IIS SMTP service and configure it to use the SMTP Message Screener. I have the step by steps in ISA Server and Beyond, and they might be in FP1 docs. If you don't have the book yet, check out FP1 docs first.

HTH,
Tom
