Maybe this is on the site somewhere... but just in case it isn't - does anyone have step-by-step installation notes for ISA? I have been working with it for awhile and am writing such a list myself. I think it would be helpful to have a big button on the front page linking to step-by-step instructions.

And secondly, anyone else having the issue where ISA won't install until you put the external NIC address in the LAT? This is a 2 NIC scenario with inside RFC1918 IPs and static DSL on outside. I can remove it when setup finishes and I launch the console -- but I MUST put the outside IP in or setup won't finish. Interesting. Thanks in advance for your input.

Hi Jcentimano,

We don't have a step-by-step guide on the site yet. I do include one in the book, but there are many different scenarios we cover in the book, so it would be hard to come up with a "one size fits all" setup guide. How you approach the setup is determined by the type of environment you're in, the security design you created, and the type of installation mode you are using.

Its interesting that it won't install if you don't put a public IP address in the LAT! Indeed, ISA often gets "upset" during installation if it doesn't detect a public address that you can denote as an external interface, at least in terms of log file errors for "cannot create packet filter..."

Are you using a public address on the external interface?

Thanks!

Tom
