Hi All,

All my ISA rules require authentication.
Isa works fine except with one problem:

Objects in cache are inacessible to anyone.

What I mean:
A) When a never visited page are requested, Isa authenticate the request (transparently with NTLM), get the page, send it to the user and wrote it to the cache (checked with Cachedir utility).

B) A new request to the same page (after clearing the IE temp internet files), returns an error.

Doing a network monitoring (looking inside packets), I note:
In step A, all the process works OK - IE send an anonymous request, isa ask for authentication, IE resend a request with credentials, isa return the page.

In step B, IE send an anymous request, isa ask for authentication, IE resend the request with credentials, isa close the packet with tcp-reset flag.
No errors in event-viewer, isa logs, anything.

If my rules was changed from Authenticated to All users, everything works fine. And the problem is more frequently with static objects (gif, jpg).

All functions in ISA are working fine except the cache.. It sounds like the cache was internally of Write Enable/Read Denied. It's like a bug because I can't see any way to change permissions inside the cache objects.

All already change the permissions on the drive holding the cache to everyone full control and didn't solve.

I read that ISA don't cache objects that require user authentication, but it's only relative to objects in external websites that require authentication.

Any tips or help will be welcome!
Thanks
Encarnacao, Lf

Hi Encarnacao,

It would be a lot easier just to check the ISA perfmon counters.

HTH,
Tom

Hi Tom,

I found that the problem is related to a isa rule that block a content-type.

This rule was:
internal->external->all protocols->all-users->content type: some video and msn data.

If I disable that rule, everything works fine!

Very strange! I'll now research that..

Thanks!
