Hi !

Im getting the followinf error msg then Im trying to publish a intranet web over SSL.

500 Internal Server Error - The certificate chain was issued by an authority that is not trusted. (-2146893019)
Internet Security and Acceleration Server

The certificate i'm using is issued by our internal CA.

When im trying to access the site from our intranet if works fine. But when im using a external client, I get the error msg.

Anyone have a suggestion on how to fix this ?

Regards,
Per Bornsjo

Hi Per,

Does the external Web client have the CA cert installed? Does the ISA firewall have the CA cert installed on it?

Thanks!
Tom

I'm in the same boat. I have read the "Dreaded 500 Internal Server Error...." article on this site and I am not sure how to apply it to 2004 vs 2000. I am using SBS 2003 and a seperate W2k3 server with ISA 2004b2. I can access the /exchange and /remote sites on the internal network but I am STILL stumped on the external access to the SBS server from the ISA external. It seems the split DNS or HOSTS file is the fix... but not quite sure how to apply it to ISA 2004. I can't wait for the article to resolve this... By the way Tom... thanks for all the info on this site. It takes alot of time to keep up with this stuff and I admire your persistance.

Hi LGSONE,

The HOSTS file method can be used in the same way as its used in ISA 2000.

Check out the article on the wildcard certificate for some hints on how to get it to work. I'll do a SSL to SSL bridging article in the near future.

Thanks!
Tom
