I upgraded ISA 2004 on the SBS2003 server at my church and now users can't get to the website hosted by ChurchSquare.com. I have the same problem on the SBS2003 box at my house after running the SP2 upgrade. Both worked fine before the upgrade. If you type in http://www.churchsquare.com from the church network you get a Network Access Message: The website can not be found. The URL in the user's browser is changed to http://%20%www.churchsquare.com/home/_. I checked out whois.sc and they report that the server type is e/3. Trying to view other sites on the same server (from the list on whois.sc) gives the same error message and changed URL. Other sites such as CNN and Yahoo are fine. Anyone else having these problems after the SP2 upgrade? Or can anyone else get to these sites after upgrading to SP2? It was working fine before the ugprade, and I'm beginning to think I'm going to have to try and figure out how to back out of the Windows Update install of SP2. Thanks, David

A little follow up info: If I log into the SBS2003 box as the administrator the ChurchSquare site displays. I'm using the same proxy settings in IE on the server as I am for the clients. So, it seems to be related to the client access of the proxy, not the local host access. Turning off the proxy settings and using the firewall client from the client PCs yields the same error messages.

I just tested that URL through my ISA2K4SP2 and get the same redirect with %20 in it. If I manually remove the %20 from the URL but leave the /home/_ I get a partial page with just some ads. I take it your ISA is not the one hosting that site?

No, we are not hosting the site. The site I'm actually trying to get to is www.cc-um.org, which is hosted by churchsquare.com. I captured a SP1 log file related to a request from a client to the site. The way it worked with SP1 installed was: 1) request to www.cc-um.org 2) browser address bar shows www.cc-um.org/christchurch/ (staff_directory page in my log example) 192.168.0.32 anonymous Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1; .NET CLR 2.0.50727) N 2006-02-01 19:51:34 w3proxy THEROCK - www.cc-um.org 69.7.164.168 80 296 538 15228 http TCP GET http://www.cc-um.org/christchurch/staff_directory text/html Inet 200 0x60000000 Web Access Only - Internal External 0xd80 Allowed Now that SP2 is installed a client request to www.cc-um.org gives the following log entries: 192.168.0.24 anonymous Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; Q312461; SV1; .NET CLR 2.0.50727) N 2006-02-12 21:55:58 w3proxy THEROCK - www.cc-um.org 69.7.164.168 80 2282 413 402 http TCP GET http://www.cc-um.org/ text/html Inet 200 0x62000000 Web Access Only Compression: client=Yes, server=Yes, cache=No, compress rate=13% decompress rate=0% Internal External 0x480 Allowed 192.168.0.24 anonymous Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; Q312461; SV1; .NET CLR 2.0.50727) N 2006-02-12 21:56:09 w3proxy THEROCK - www.cc-um.org 192.168.0.1 80 2469 446 4282 http TCP GET http:// www.cc-um.orgrg/main2/home - Inet 11001 0x4 Web Access Only Compression: client=Yes, server=No, cache=Yes, compress rate=0% decompress rate=0% Internal External 0xc0 Failed So, two entries and the second one shows that the address is munged up. The user then gets the "Network Access Message" error screen about a problem finding the site with an Error Code 11001: host not found. But the strange thing is that I can access the site from the server. Those log entries show success and the page pops up: 192.168.0.1 anonymous Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.2; SV1; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; .NET CLR 2.0.50727) N 2006-02-12 22:06:57 w3proxy THEROCK - www.cc-um.org 69.7.164.168 80 94 326 314 http TCP GET http://www.cc-um.org/ text/html Inet 200 0x62000000 Allow all HTTP traffic from ISA Server to all networks (for CRL downloads) Compression: client=No, server=Yes, cache=No, compress rate=0% decompress rate=0% Local Host External 0x400 Allowed 192.168.0.1 anonymous Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.2; SV1; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; .NET CLR 2.0.50727) N 2006-02-12 22:06:57 w3proxy THEROCK - www.cc-um.org 69.7.164.168 80 140 372 13542 http TCP GET http://www.cc-um.org/christchurch/welcome text/html Inet 200 0x62000004 Allow all HTTP traffic from ISA Server to all networks (for CRL downloads) Compression: client=No, server=Yes, cache=No, compress rate=0% decompress rate=0% Local Host External 0xd00 Allowed 192.168.0.1 anonymous Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.2; SV1; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; .NET CLR 2.0.50727) N 2006-02-12 22:06:57 w3proxy THEROCK - www.cc-um.org 69.7.164.168 80 47 436 244 http TCP GET http://www.cc-um.org/i/t/w/script/core.js text/plain Inet 304 0x40800006 Allow all HTTP traffic from ISA Server to all networks (for CRL downloads) Compression: client=No, server=Yes, cache=No, compress rate=0% decompress rate=0% Local Host External 0xd00 Allowed The same thing happens to any sites hosted on the ChurchSquare server, which is why I started out listing it in the posting. Now I'm trying to drill down to specifics in hope that someone will have a suggestion. David

A little more info on my issue. I am using Windows 2003 ENt Edt w/sp1 and ISA 2004 Ent Edt w/sp2. If I tried to access the URL from an XP machine I get the problem but if I try it on a server, it works fine!

Try disabling compression. ISA Sp2 will only handle gzip all other compression types are not allowed.

Here is how to get around that: Arrays-->"array name"-->configuration-->add-ins-->web filters disable the following web filters: -DiffServ Filter -Compression Filter -Caching Compressed Content Filter

Correction. Just disable Compression FIlter. MS Response: RESOLUTION: When the browser request is processed by ISA, a <space> is inserted between http:// and the hostname; creating an upstream request for http:// www.floodcert.com/ The responding server generates a 302 response using that malformed URL in the location header. The compression filter adds and removes fields in the request header. As a result the web proxy rebuilds the request header and adds an extra space before the host name.By disabling the Compression filter, this issue is resolved and clients can access the web page. We are in the process of developing the Hotfix for the same.

I have the same problem with ISA 2004 SP2, is there a fix for this instead of disabling some filters?
