I have recently installed ISA Enterprise 2006. After installing the FWC on the network nodes they are no longer able to stream radio/windows media player. I created a firewall policy to allow MMC, RTSP and PNM from our internal network to the external net. I can now stream Sirius radio with no problem, the RTSP worked fine. But I still can't stream windows media player with the firewall client installed. If I disable the FWC and simply make the node a web client by removing the "auto detect" and "auto config script" options and leaving the proxy server ip/port it works fine. Once i reconnec the FWC it doesn't work. Tells me "can't play any items in list... -1072885579" and "connection to internet has been lost." It's been driving me buggy for the past 2 days. Can anyone help?

Go to the Network Settings in the Options of Windows Media Player. Install the FWC Look at HTTP,...it is probably set to "browser". Remove that and set it to "none". Close and reopen the Player Side note. If you have not configured your LAN for Proxy Auto-detection via WPAD, the auto detect settings in the browser are doing nothing,..there is no point in them being enabled.

Tried settings at none, autodetect and even set the proxy ip and port. Still no luck. The CSS/ISA is set for autodetect and wpad is listed as alias in dns. The autodetect seems to work with the fwc able to autodetect the proxy. It's got to be something I'm missing.... network firewall rule allows mmc from internal to external. if the browser is set as a simple web proxy, ie no autodetect and no use config file, and windows media is set to use browser settings, everything works fine. if use autoconfig file, then can't connect

Tried settings at none, autodetect and even set the proxy ip and port. Leave it on None. Remove the other stuff. Leave it that way. network firewall rule allows mmc from internal to external. Network Firewall Rule?.... You mean Access Rule? MMC? .... You mean MMS? MMS is not good enough. You need MMS, PNM, RSTP, and HTTP. Make sure the FWC is installed and is still detecting the proxy and is detecting the correct proxy. It will show a green arrown on the icon by the Clock when it is in use and working correctly. At this point the: Media Player is correct. The FWC is correct. The Client machine is correct. The browser is irrelevant. If it still does not work then start using the Monitoring Log on the ISA to figure out what is going on with your Access Rules.

Thanks for your help. The problem seemed to be with the Secure NAT in DNS.

Ok. Well SecureNAT Client do their own DNS resolution. ISA does not do it for them. They need to use the AD/DNS for their *only* DNS Server. Then the AD/DNS needs to use the ISP as a Forwarder and the ISA needs to allow the AD/DNS to make anonymous outbound DNS queries.
