Hi Folks;

I find I constantly have to check the boxes for subscriptions when posting and in the past email notification has been sporadic at best. This is not helped by having 'sex' appear in the emails in the form of - MSexchange- I'm sure that results in a LOT of lost email notifications.

Today I checked my profile in an effort to permanently turn on subscriptions to posts I made and threads I replied to. I did this, hit apply and promptly found that the checkboxes had been cleared!

I tried again and this time was bounced back to the forums after selecting Apply. I then went back into my profile and found that the boxes had been cleared again. So it seems that no matter what - I can't adjust my profile to always subscribe to posts I made or replied to.

Also, I've found (for the past several years) that the site is very slow. This has been consistent the whole way through - it's very reminiscent of dial-up Internet access. I've run a discussion forum for a number of years (off a 1 megabit cable modem no less) and I've had great success with regards to speed. The site is hosted in Canada and I have many users from the far reaches of Europe who report great speeds (providing they have a decent connection) and it causes me to wonder if it might be your choice of forum software that's causing the issues.

I've been running the old free version of IPB (1.3.1) for about 4 years now and I've never run into the issues I tend to see on this forum. I'd be happy to provide a copy of it for you if you'd like to check it out.

Anyway, I hope these comments won't anger you guys as I know you are working hard to find that delicate balance of helping others while making some money and probably trying to grow at the same time! It's not easy - so thanks for your efforts

Hi Marvin,

Ha! Yes, the site is slow at times. I don't think it's always slow, but there are times when it virtually unusable, like you noted re: the dial-up modem type expereince.

Don't know why you subs are working. I'll see about get you some help with this.

Thanks!!
Tom

Thank you Dr. Tom - I'm glad you too have noticed it and were kind enough to confirm it. I was speaking with Barbara about it and she mentioned that this was the first she'd heard of it!

Anyway, I wish you the very best!
