Hi,

The ISA online help state that info on the system Security Templates can be found on the Microsoft ISA-website. But I am unable to track that info. Anybody any idea?

Hi Fred,

The security wizard applies one of the built-in security templates to the machine. I have a list of what templates are applied around here somewhere, if you are really interested.

However, I would caution you on their use. I haven't heard of anyone that has a good experience after applying one of the templates. Strange things happen after applying them. Strange because when I fire up my Security Configuration Toolset, I can't make out why the template whacked my ISA/RRAS configuration.

However, if someone has had a good experience with the Wizards, let us know!

HTH,
Tom

I was also unable to track the information down. Although, I was able to run the security analyzer after the ISA "locks" the system. The template that is used is almost identical to the highly secure webserver template (hisecweb.inf) microsoft recommends for a dedicated IIS5.0 server. Except for exception that Tom noticed. Hisecweb.inf stops the Telephony and Autodial services which makes ISA fail on reboot. The template guide is at http://www.microsoft.com/TechNet/win2000/seconfig.asp

Hey Guys,

Here's the info on the security templates and the Security Wizard:

Secure...........Basicsv.inf....Basicdc.inf

Limited Services.Securews.inf...Securedc.inf

Dedicated........Hisecws.inf....Hisecdc.inf

The second column is for a server, the third column is for a Domain Controller.

HTH,
Tom
