Hello Dear,

Nice to hear my first post regarding TMG installation error, i am using 2 servers as specified below.

1) Win2k8 Ent RCO (Domain Controller)

2) Win2k8 Ent RCO (Domain Member) & login domain user with local administrator rights,

After the nice selection in TMG installation, i have received errors below,

Setup was unable to install windows optional components. As a result setup cannot continue

&

Setup failed while writing internal network information to forefront TMG storage

Have any idea about these errors

Hi,

On the Machine you are installing TMG, it should be a domain member and the account used to install TMG should be logged on as a domain user that has local administrator privileges on the TMG machine.

yes TMG server part of the Domain Controller, and login as a domain user with local administrative privileges.

Are you using x86 or x64?

I think from memory you need to use x64, we had lots of problems trying to install it on x86 and used x64 in the end.

Not 100% sure...but this sounds familiar!

I saw TMG installed on 32bit x86 family, i thouhgt is there some thing remaining.

TMG is supported ONLY on x64 system running Windows Server 2008 RTM.

Thanks for supportive reply, ok i understand what is the problem comes, my all systems and OS is 32bit & x86 flavour, is there any x64 OS to test on VMware because i haven't x64 & 64bit flavour.

VMware Server can be installed on a 32bit Host system that supports VT on Intel systems (and I think AMD too) and that will run 64bit guest systems.

If you have a 64bit server, you can install Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V on that and run 32 and 64 bit guests.
