Hi All,

I'm getting the following error in the ISA Server's event log:

Event Source: TermService
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1036
Date: 6/3/2005
Time: 12:07:06 PM
User: N/A
Computer: ISASERVER
Description:
Terminal Server session creation failed. The relevant status code was 0x2740.

The server is not listening on port 3389, and the system policy appears to be correct. Has anyone else experienced this problem and/or know of a fix?

Solved it.

This error message (0x2740 = decimal 10048) means "Only one usage of each socket address (protocol/network address/port) is normally permitted." I had forgotten that I was publishing RDP. To fix this, I went into Terminal Services configuration and configured the RDP protocol to only listen on the inside (trusted) interface. (Not sure how this got changed...)

Whew! Thanks Bill, I had that exact problem and your solution also fixed it. Did you happen to have just installed Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1? That is when the problem occured for me. I did it over an RDP connection from Home and I've been told that you shouldn't install SP's over RDP I guess.

Thanks... my problem too. Not sure what changed, but all of a sudden this became a problem after a reboot. Hadn't been a problem until then.

I've been tweaking settings so obviously something I did triggered it... just not sure what.
