We use an electronic time sheet client program that connects via HTTP over the internet.  This worked fine with ISA 2004 but I'm getting an error now that we are on ISA 2006.  I can connect to the web site fine with IE6 and I can download the electronic time sheet client.  But when I try to connect the client to the published web server I get an error that says.

"The requested header was not found"

Any Idea what might cuase this?  I have tried re-publishing the server with no luck.

Hi PCC,

1. Where is the client?

2. Where is the ISA Firewall?

3. Where is the server?

Tom

Hi PCC,

1. Where is the client?

The clients are all connecting over the Internet.

quote:

2. Where is the ISA Firewall?

Not sure I understand this question.  But the ISA Firewall is an edge firewall.

quote:

3. Where is the server?

The server sits on the Internal network.

Thanks!

Hi PCC,

OK, so this is a Web publishing scenario.

It could be something in the configuratino of the HTTP security filter. In the logging section, enable the filter information field and see if that shows anything.

Are you forwarding the original host headers?

Tom

Yes I'm forwarding the original host header.  I also have it set for "Requests appear to come from the original client".

What condition and value should I use when logging filter information?  There are a lot of options there.

Thanks.

There just one column, the filter information column, that needs to be exposed.

OK.  I see what you mean now.  I will have to try to connect with the client and see what it logs.

I finally got a chance to check this out.

The "Filter Information" column just logs:

Hi PCC,

Can you post the rest of the log file entry that relates to this message?

Thanks!

I had to search the log for it.  I believe this is the entry from the failed time sheet client software connection attempt.

The 64 error indicates that the specified name is no longer available.
Is there some sort of redirect to a path that isn't supported by the Web Publishing Rule?

Tom

I don't believe so.  The "Paths" tab in the web publishing rule has the settings:

External Path = <same as internal>
Internal Path = /*

Could it be that authentication is required for the connection? I see that the denied connection was a POST. Do you require authentication for making POSTs to your Web server?

Thanks!
Tom

There is nothig for this web publishing rule that requires authentication.  Also, Everything works fine internally.  It is only when connecting through ISA Server that I get the error.

As I mentioned in my original post, this worked fine with ISA Server 2004.  So what is different in ISA 2006 web publishing rules that would affect this?

Hi PCC,

Nothing that I'm aware of. If you not using SSL or authentication, then they should be exactly the same. Did you make any configuration changes on the HTTP Security Filter for the Web Publishing Rule?

Tom

Tom,

I didn't make any changes to the HTTP Security Filter, I just used the defaults.

Would it help if I exported the web publishing rule and listener and sent them to you to look at?

Thanks!

Hi PCC,

Running ISAinfo would work better.

Tom,

I'm not familiar with ISAinfo.  Is that a tool I need to download?

Thanks,
Pete

Hi Pete,
check this article:
http://www.isaserver.org/tutorials/ISA-Server-2004-Best-Practice-Analyzer.html
you will need the ISAinfo Viewer to view the output.
you can get it from here:
http://www.isatools.org/tools/isainfo.zip
Best regards!
