I'm reading Dr. S's book on ISA 2004 proir to setting up ISA on my MS Small Business Server.  There is nothing in the book (that I've come across yet) to tell me exactlly where to put my Linksys router in the connection picture.

I have 2 NIC's on my server, my guess is to hook the cable modum up to the NIC I plan to use as external and then hook the Linksys router up to the Internal NIC (the internal NIC being connected  to the Linksys's "internet"port), and then the rest of the internal PC's to the router.  Correct?

Next question, I also use a Vonage VoIP system.  It is connected to the same router as above.  Does anyone know if I will experiance any problems (or need a special configuration) if I put the VoIP system behind ISA? (Looking at the available "jacks" on the Vonage box, I don't think a daisy chain between the cable modum and the external NIC on the server is possible).

Thanks, Tom

I know this is late in coming and maybe you've already resolved this. I'm no expert but I think there's a couple of ways to do this using your router.
One is to use your Linksys router as a frontend firewall by placing it between your cable modem and the external nic of your isaserver, using isaserver as a backend firewall. Then use the other, internal nic of your isaserver for your internal network. This gives you added firewall protection, but depending on what you want to do, or allow through, you may have to do some additional configuration of your Linksys Router, such as port forwarding and/or etc.
Another is to go directly from your cable modem to the external nic of your isaserver, using isaserver as a frontend firewall, and place your router as a backend firewall on your internal network nic, or even disable it's firewall just use it as a port switch. Again, if you enable/use your Linksys firewall feature, depending on what you want to do or allow through, you may have to configure it accordingly. Hope this helps.
