hey there.

This should be VERY straight forward but for some reason it just aint happening.

I have ISA 2004 running with various clients, securenat, firewal, proxy..

This PC I am on now is a win2k server with no firewall client so its just secure nat. I have an allow MSN Messenger rule with a source of our internal LAN, for All Users. (I also have users on firwall client for which this still does not work)

MSN was working ok under these rules for a couple of months.. then it stopped working.. cant think why, we didnt work on the isa server.

Anyway when signing in it doesnt work. When monitoring the source ip of this PC I get the following entries when attempting to connect (see pic below)

If I add this PC (192.100.12.21) to a rule that simply says allow all outbound traffic (we use this rule for hardware firewall devices to be able to update firmware etc) then it connects and works perfectly. As I cant add every pc into this rule I need to get it going with our MSN out rule. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks! "[Big

Hi Al,

Make sure you put the MSN sites on the Direct Access list so that they bypass the Web proxy.

HTH,
Tom
