OK I've looked through the posts here...and if I'm understanding them, most seem to say that if you install the Firewall Client...messenger programs will work out of the box!
SBS2000 server Multiple homed, on DSL Netopia DSL modem/router on WAN NIC, router is 192.168.1.254, WAN NIC of SBS is 192.168.1.11, with routers LAN IP as gateway, and the internal IP address of the server as it's DNS, 192.168.0.11
LAN NIC of server, 192.168.0.11, DNS is itself, and no gateway is added.
SBS Server is running DHCP for network, so clients get .100 on up IP's, 192.168.0.11 for DNS, no gateway, and WINS is being handed out even though there are no Win9X clients.
Fresh install as of a few days ago, just rolled network over to it last night. Firewall clients installed, web browsing works fine.
However, applications like games (such as Battlefield 1942, and Battlefield Vietnam) do not work on the internet, no scanning for servers, no manually logging onto a public server. And messenger services, we use Trillian, which is an "All in one" IM program, it communicates with ICQ, MSN, AIM, etc. Cannot get it to log on, nor can I get ICQ to log on by itself.
