Hi All:

Until recently it was normal practice at my company to leave the default gateway field blank for most of our internal servers. We always specified ISA as a proxy server in our browsers and everything seemed to work fine. I'm curious as to what the techinal term for a client using the proxy server, but with no specified default gateway is called? Would it be referred to as just a "Web proxy client" and also a "NAT client", or an "UnSecureNAT client"?

Hi Andy,

there are 3 ISA client types: Web Proxy, Firewall and SecureNAT. A single host can be *configured* as a SecureNAT, Firewall and Web Proxy client without any adverse interaction between the client configuration settings. However, for any given request the host can only *act* as one specific client.
