I have a very general kind of problem "Unable to ping from a SecureNAT Client" to any machine outside my internal network.
How ever I am able to ping to the same addresses from the ISA box.

nslookup works fine on SNAT clients (DNS server is on the same machine as my ISA server is on)
I have also enabled the IP Routing and PPTP and the HTTPRedirector Filter.

However if I make it a web proxy client and issue a script in the web browser, I can browse the sites prefectly fine.

When I ping from the SNAT box it says "request timed out" "[Confused]"

When I give a tracert google.com from the SNAT box first hop to the ISA box gets fine but after that it says "request timed out"

One of the SNAT client is the Domain Controller and the Exchange 2000 server. I'm facing the same problem with this box and my mail server is working fine within the internal network but any interaction IN or OUT with the outside domains is not happening.

How can I resolve this?? "[Confused]"

Kindly Help.

Hi Vineet,

Two things required to ping from SecureNAT clients:

1. A SecureNAT client [Smile]

2. IP Routing enabled on ISA Server

3. Default packet filters on ISA Server are intact

Hmmm. That was 3 [Big Grin]

HTH,
Tom

Hi Tom,

Three things u mentioned ->

1. A SecureNAT client

2. IP Routing enabled on ISA Server

3. Default packet filters on ISA Server are intact

I have all of 'em but still ping gives "Request Timed out" and so does the Tracert command.

Possibily since ping is not working, this may be the reason why my mail server is not able to send and recieve mails to and from outside my local network.
How can I set it working??

Thanks,
Vineet

Hi Tom,

I finally was able to get this working. I re-installed the ISA server and re-cofigured all the Access Policies and filters etc. However the problem I guess was with LAT. I could see a different enteries in the LAT after and before re-installation. [Big Grin]

Thanks,

Regards,

-Vineet
