We are trying to publish a non secure website which is placed internally in the network. We have 2 webservers doing load balancing. IP address of the first webserver eg server1 is 172.18.12.3 and server2 is 172.18.12.4. Web request is configured to IP 172.18.12.4 which is the virtual ip for these 2 servers.

We created a web publishing rule pointing to the virtual IP 172.18.12.4. The rule works fine except for one link on the site which opens up a form which is hosted on only one server ie server1. We were unable to open this link using the web publishing rule. Is there anythg that we are missing that has to be added or enabled on the rule.

Regards.

If the form is only located on one server, irrespective of ISA, surely this is a bit of a single point of failure if you have two servers?

Anyhow, have you tried using ISA web farm publishing and use the dedicated IP address of the web servers - ISA can then handle the balancing more intelligently which might solve your problems. You may also need to ask a specific link translation entry to return the correct URL for external users.

What is currently doing the load balancing?

Cheers

JJ

We are using Microsoft's load balancing feature. If we use ISA's sever farm feature will i have to disable windows load balancing feature?

Nope, they can run in parallel if that's what you need...

Unless you push internal users through ISA, you will likely need to leave NLB enabled to provide balancing and fault tolerance for internal users.

Give it a go and see if it helps.

When you try to access the form or link from outside, does it display an internal URL? If so, you will need to add a link translation to map the internal name to your external name.

Have a play and post back you findings

Cheers

Well Jason this particular link is not accessible from outside as of now. Only internal users can access it. I will try the link translation you are talking about.
Thanks.
