I am in the process of installing Exchange 2007 into my network with the intention of replacing an Exchange 2003 server.
I currently have one of each server on the network. I am using ISA 2006 with FBA to publish the OWA site
I would like to publish the OWA 2007 machine so that as I move users to the new server they are still able to get their mail remotely.
Internally, if I visit https://exchange2007/exchange then everything works correctly: Exchange 2007 users get the new OWA 2007 client and Exchange 2003 users get redirected to the old client.
Externally, if I try to publish the Exchange 2007 server the sign in form comes up OK but when signing in I get an error that the page could not be displayed. It doesn't matter which server the users mailbox is located on.
If I change the publishing rule to point to the Exchange 2003 box then users on that box work fine (my mailbox is the only one on Exchange 2007 for the moment).
I checked the network settings on the 2007 box and the ISA box is the default gateway.

Any ideas about how I can try to troubleshoot this problem?

There is an update for the ISA Firewall that improves the support for Exchange 2007.
