Now bear with me Gents! I am the Novell guy who has been thrown into ISA because I know iChain and our ISA support tech moved on to better places. So my delima is this: ISA EE 2006. I have two front end servers and two back end servers, with one CSS server. The backend array was just one server, before the guy left he installed another BE server in the array but it was not reognized. I removed ISA from the server reinstalled it, and it not appears in the CSS but!!! on the back end server itself it can communincate to the other backend server but it indicates that it is unable to retieve date from: <servername>. In Other Words Itself! Front end servers are in a workgroup an the backend servers are part of the domain. I have check everything that I can determine why it might not think that it can communicate but have been hitting a brick wall... bob

OK, I guess everyone doesn't have an idea about this. I am finding that the this product has about as much support as iChain their competors product.

Hi Bob, Need more information. Why are there front end and back end firewalls? It might be a good idea just to remove the front end. As for the back end firewalls, could this be a name resolution issue? Are the members of the same domain as the CSS? Thanks! Tom

Front end firewalls are for the users outside of our company who are accessing inside resources without having to perform a VPN connection. The problem appears to be the firewall not starting. Each and every time you try to start the firewall it fails with the following errors: 1st error: The Web Proxy filter could not initialize (error code 505.115.5.0.5723.493). 2nd Error: ISA Server could not load the application filter Web Proxy Filter ({4CB7513E-220E-4C20-815A-B67BAA295FF4}). FilterInit failed with the error code 0x80090016. To attempt to activate this application filter again, stop and restart the Firewall service. So far Microsoft has been playing phone tag with me, always calling when I am not available. :(

The problem with the Web Proxy filter not initializing is a significant one. Are there any 3rd party products installed on the ISA firewalls? Thanks! Tom
