Hi,

I hope someone is able to help me with this one...

We use a Cisco PIX as our primairy firewall and want to use an unihomed ISA 2006 machine to publish OWA 2003. The ISA 2006 machine is not in a DMZ, it operates on the same LAN as our Exchange 2003 server.

I configured the ISA 2006 publishing rules (SSL Bridging) according the article Tom wrote. Issued a certificate with the correct public name (mail.domain.com), made an export and imported it on the ISA 2006 machine along with the private key. Exchange 2003 is configured NOT to use FBA, ISA 2006 is.
Everthing seems to be in order and well configured, but still it doesn't work.

In IE i use the following address: https://mail.domain.com/exchange.
Click YES when the security warning appears and i get the FBA screen to login. Type my username and password, click logon and after a short while i get a 404 error message.
On my ISA 2006 machine in the eventlog a 14200 error appears which states that "ISA Server was unable to establish an SSL connection to 192.168.111.6 (our exchange server)..."
I first thought i made a mistake in the public name of the certificate or in the publishing rule, but that seems to be in order.

I hope this is enough info...

Thanks

Kind regards,
P. Dijkman

Hi there--

This informatin may be helpful...

You may want to check your authentication in IIS for Exchange. Directory Security for exchange to see if you are using Basic or Integrated.

What ever settings you have listed in IIS, they need to match on the published rule, otherwise you will not connect.

I typically used Basic authentication with SSL bridging. Which sounds like you have the SSL part; but authentication fails when entering username password.

Hi Yorgy,

Thanks for your reply and the info...
I checked that, but this also checkes out.

I left this to rest for a view days and looked at it again today.
Re-applied the netwrok template, build a SSL listener, made the rule to publish owa and it worked...
I don't have any idea what went wrong in the first place.

Thanks.
