Don't know if it's been asked. Can ISA Server 2004 run without SQL Server? Is it neccessary to have it installed? Is there a way to uninstall it without breaking ISA Server?

Its not SQL that's installed, its MSDE. You don't have to have it, its an installation option referred to as "advanced logging" during setup. You can rerun setup from the Add/Remove Programs applet and remove MSDE, but then you won't be able to use the log viewer to query the log files.
