Has anyone attempted this yet ? Does the XML schema match up or does the configuraiton need to be rebuilt from scratch as they threatened in the beta release notes? Other gotchas? Any input appreciated.

For sure Beta2->RC the XML files were different.

I will try in about 10 hours the upgrade from RC->Final and I will let you know [Cool]

Not even 10 hours!

I tried to run setup of Final ISA2004 over my existing ISA 2004 RC installation but setup told me that this product is already installed and i have to uninstall it.

So I exported the configuration to an .xml file from ISA 2004 RC.

I installed quickly a vmware win2k3 and installed a fresh installation of ISA 2004 Final. Tried to import the xml file and worked GREAT! [Big Grin]

So in other words. YES it is possible to export from configuration from ISA 2004 RC and import it in ISA 2004 Final!

Yes - you can either use the link on the main page of www.isaserver.org, or you can visit www.microsoft.com/isaserver and download it from there.

Can anyone confirm that the bits on MSDN before the released code were beta 2 or RC ?

In other words will XML config from the MSDN bits import cleanly into the released code ?

Thanks.

Hi Larry

The "bits" on MSDN was Beta 2, and the XML backup couldn't be restored when I install RTM on my system.

Hey guys,

Uninstall all betas and install the RTM. Then recreate your rules.

Importing XLM from RC1 to Final release crashes the firewall service ( CookieAuth.dll not found etc.. strange messages ).
We around 20 rulesets with 4 networks ( NICS ) and a lot of publishing / custom ports etc...
So our XML is really using all capabilities of ISA 2004 server. That's perhaps the reason it fails at our place and succeeds with 'simpler' config XML's.

In other words : Even if you THINK you can use the configs of your old RC1 release , NEVER EVER use them , because you will run into problems later on.

Kind regards,
Lex Penrose.
