I have set up a user filtering rule to allow remote desktop access to user abc from workstations. My firewall client setting for mstsc application is a) disable=0 b) ForceCredentials=1. I ran fwccreds.exe to add user abc domain password for mstsc application. I logged in to a workstation as administrator, went to isa client local settings and edited common.ini to include above settings.

When I try to establish remote desktop connection, the connection is being denied. The log shows I attempted to log in as (administrator?). Why does it try to log me in as administrator? I thought that fwccreds tool was for that purpose.

Also, is there a way to configure the firewall client so that when you make updates to firewall client configuration on isa server, it propagates them to worstations?

There is no reason to use fwcred tool in this scenario.

Install the Firewall Client on the client workstations, create an Access Rule that allow access only for authenticated users, and there you go.

There should be no need to configure the Firewall Client settings on the ISA Firewall -- it should just work.
