Hi there,

Very strange one this, we have an ISA server 2006 system and around 200 users in three countries accessing the internet through this system. I'm in the US at the moment carrying out an upgrade of our active directory infrastructure from windows 2000 ad to windows server 2003 ad. I arrived in the US office on Monday to discover that users in the UK were complaining that they would attempt to use the internet and would continually be asked for their credentials. I've looked into this in some depth and have even tried removing the need for users to even authenticate to get the internet, but this makes no difference. The users affected have nothing in common, it makes no difference whether they are secureNAT, webproxy or Firewall client. I even have a test isa server which has started doing the same thing. I investigated the possibility that some ative directory problems may be causing these issues but I don't have any issues with AD currently.

Even more strange is the fact that users with the problem only have the issue when using IE not firefox. It makes no difference how IE is configured.

Unfortunately or fortunately for me, depending on how you look at it, the issue doesn't happen when I use the internet.

To give you a bit of background we have a fully routed network with four sites connected by a private IPVPN MPLS based T1 connections. DIA is based in the UK and all internet access comes through the ISA server in the UK office.

The issue seems to have come on before I changed anything with AD in the UK. Our 2 domains are still running in windows 2000 native mode.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Tom,

Check the Event Viewer on the ISA Firewall to see if there are any AD issues.
