Hi,

is it possible to use the PING command to ping through ISA when the firewall client is turned on ? I've enabled an All Protocol rule for my account (as a test) but still can't use ping. Get a request time out error. However, when configuring the client computer as a secure NAT client I can ping through ISA. Why this difference ?

Franc.

Hi Franc,

The firewall client intercepts connections from Winsock apps that use the TCP and UDP protocols. PING uses ICMP which doesn't use TCP or UDP as a transport. So, you'd need to configure the machines as both Firewall and SecureNAT clients.

HTH,
Tom
