Hi All!
Got a question on using authenticated users in ISA 2004. When I configure ISA firewall policy to use All Users everything works fine. When I set it to use Authenticated users I can browse to 2 or 3 sites on the client and then nothing happens. I have the clients using the firewall client, web browser set to autoconfigure, use auto config script, and use proxy server. When I set ISA to use all users the session tab shows anonymous for web proxy clients and I want to see who the user is. I pretty much used Dr. Shinders ISA 2004 book to set up ISA including DNS on interal NIC, DNS fowarders on AD DNS sever pointing to ISA server internal nic IP, caching only DNS on ISA, def gtwy on external nic, wpad, DHCP option 252, etc. I tried creating custom user list with DOmain Users and the same thing happens. Set it back to ALL USers and everything works great. Any ideas? Thanks!

Hi Duane,

Thanks for getting the book! [Big Grin]

Sounds like you're doing everything right so far.

One thing if this is only an issue with the Web protocols -- are the browsers configured to use HTTP 1.1 through proxy connections AND are they configured to use Windows Integrated Authentication? Both are configured on the Advanced tab of the browser.

HTH,
Tom

Thanks Dr. Shinder for the response. Enabling http 1.1 thru proxy did the trick! And thank YOU for writing such a great book. It is nice to have a great resource when you are dealing with something so important like a firewall. This book does not leave my side! Thanks again.

Duane
