Hi All

My WinXP VPN client connects to my ISA 2004 from the internet, no problem.

However name resolution fails and i have to type in the IP manually to any internal servers.

I have created a policy for "VPN clients" to the Internal net and localhost (DNS is on localhost)

Any suggestions?

Hey guys,

I'm having the exact same problem with XP SP2 clients. Seems like the XP2 client aren't using the VPN server defined DNS server preferentially like its supposed to. Remove SP2 and everything works normally.

Might be a another SNAFU to attribute to SP2, but I haven't worked it up in enough detail yet to confirm it.

Hi Z,

OK, when you do a ipconfig /all on your VPN clients, what DNS and WINS server addresses do you see for the VPN link?

Hi Tom

I see the internal 192.169.0.1 DNS as primary
I see the external xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx DNS as secondary
I see no Wins server

I can't do an nslookup towards the internal server (can't find server, server failed)

I can connect RDP, Outlook, Netbios etc hosted on the 192.168.0.1 DC server.

Hi A,

That could be a BIG problem. Why would the VPN server give a VPN client an *external* DNS server address?

I'd fix that problem first.
