Brief Background:
Established a gateway to gateway vpn connection between two locations using ISA 2000. Everything worked except for pinging between sites. Ie all other functions ie shared files , AD replication worked fine. I checked to see if anything was blocking ping response in ISA or the adsl routers, but nothing seemed to be blocking ping responses, yet they didn't work. This was a situation I could live with in the short term, as puzzling as it was.

One day everything stopped working. The connection is made using L2tp and it says it is all ok, but now no network browsing, no ping, no shared files etc.

I have tried recreating the connection, rebooting both servers, disabling all the nics and then enabling them again.
