On my ISA Server 2006 I enabled VPN client access to the internal network and outbound VPN connections. Everything worked as expected, I was able to connect remote VPN clients to the network and, just for testing purpose, VPN connection from the internal network worked too. For several months the remote VPN clients worked as expected.

At some point a VPN client reported it stopped to work, getting an 800 connection error after a long connection wait. A VPN connection attempt to the proxy from the internal network failed too.

No changes have been to the VPN configuration but I double checked the ISA Server configuration and I haven't noticed anything strange. This are the current VPN settings.
VPN Access is enabled
Remote access allowed to the members of a specific Windows group
LLTP protocol enabled
User mapping enabled, with the internal domain name used when username does not include domain name
A firewall policy is enabled to let the VPN clients access the internal network.

The ISA Server 2006 is running on a Windows 2003 Server SP1.

What can I check to find the reason of this problem?
