Hi fellow ISA users,
A lot has been written on the subject of virtualization these days (for good reason), but information seems a bit sparse on ISA in a virtualized environment. I'm not refering to software compatibilties, or deployment steps, but more on the lines of implications of running ISA in a virtualized environment. As sharp and thorough as many in the security world are, it seems like there are entire topics that are not addressed. Physical points of demarcation (such as the interfaces on a physical ISA firewall) are replaced with virtual adapters and the the lofty hope that someone set up their VLAN correctly. It seems like that virtualizing that demarcation point might promote some poor practices as well.
I'd like to hear what others have to say about this subject. No, I'm not planning on virtualizing my firewall, but I know somebody out there is, and I think it's an issue worth bringing up.
