I currently have one office with about 30 users and we will be opening an office soon with another 30 users in another physical location. I currently have one domain, use ISA 2000 server, and a seperate server for Exchange 2000 for email.

Does anyone have recommendations how I can connect the new office to the current office? Do I require a trusted domain, child domain, or are they on the same domain? Any advice would be appreciated.

So far I have this idea:

I currently have ISA 2000 running at one of the sites but I am willing to upgrade to ISA 2004 to get the extra benefits. I found a link that talks about connecting the two ISA Servers through a dedicated VPN.

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/isa/2004/plan/sitetositevpn.mspx

So do you think the following would work?

1. Upgrade the existing Main Office ISA 2000 Server to ISA 2004 and OS 2004.
2. Install a new ISA 2004 Server in the Branch office location.
3. Connect them using the VPN.
4. Create another Domain Controller in the Branch office and make it a Global Catalog Server. What do you think about a "Child Domain", will this affect email and if so how?

Hi Interflex,

Sounds like an excellent plan!

Thanks!
