I've installed the new WSUS from Microsoft on an internal webserver. I've created a rule and set it as the first of the rules in the Firewall Policy. The protocols HTTP,HTTPS,Kerberos-Sec(UDP) are defined in the rule. Now i can't synchronize the WSUS-server with the internet'. I've set the proxy in the WSUS-admin-tool, but still no updates. If i look in the real-time-log i see the message: 443 SSL-tunnel Failed Connection Attempt Anyone knows a solution? It would be gratefull!

I'm seeing the exact same thing. It seems WSUS is not sending credentials, and is ignoring ISA's request for them.

Hey guys,
If you have the fireall client configured on the WSUS server, then use Direct Access.
If you don't have the firewall client installed, then configure an anonymous access rule allowing access to the sites required by WSUS.

I am also having problems getting WSUS to connect to Microsoft. I have tried the WSUS server with and without the client and have also opened up all the sites in the WSUS documentation. I do not see any denied errors in ISA, but see this error in the WSUS admin: WebException: The underlying connection was closed: Unable to connect to the remote server. ---> System.Net.WebException: The remote server returned an error: (407) Proxy Authentication Required. ISA reports an anonymous connection even if I tell WSUS to use a specific account. When I was using SUS I had to set the service account to a domain account to get it to connect, but the same trick does not work with WSUS. Any other ideas?

After spending some time with the problem this morning I was able to get it to work by creating a rule in ISA that allows all outbound traffic coming from my WSUS server to go to the external network for All Users. Not the best solution, but at least I have this fixed before new updates come out on Tuesday.

I've a rule for the WUS server, just like Craig. I've installed the Firewall Client, it still doesn't synchronize. This is the error message: WebException: The underlying connection was closed: Could not establish secure channel for SSL/TLS. ---> System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception: The requested security package does not exist

I've installed WUS on another server, it works after a while. I think it has something to do with Java installed on the other server. Thanks for all the help
