Web Filter GUI - 19.Apr.2004 12:07:00 PM

Hi, I have developped a Web filter for ISA 2000 (using VS 6) and want to make it compatible with ISA 2004 Beta2. As IDE I am using VS 7.1. After I have replaced the include files from the ISA SDK the web filter dll works. But I do not know how to port the MMC snapin for it. The sample programm DataMonitor (from the ISA 2004 SDK) does not compile because of a missing include file. Can you provide me a link that explains how to build a project that adds porperty pages to my web filter?
ISA 2004 supports HTTP 1.1. Can it happen that the web filter application gets the data chunkencoded, or will ISA format it before sending it to the web filter?
Thank you Jan

Hi Jim, the compiler error occurs in file "StdAfx.h": Cannot open include file "wspfwext.h" (line 53). On my system there is no file "wspfwext.h". So it is not a problem with the include path.
To create a mmc snap in for ISA 2000 was easy. There is a step by step description in the MSDN doku. Do you know such an easy way for ISA 2004, too?
Thank you

You're right, since there is no wspfwext.h file on your system, the file path is irrelvant.
You'll be better off to post these to the ISA 2004 Beta SDK newsgroup, I think..

hi ,
There says in the SDK manual that you need VB.NET to program ISA filters. It says "absolutely do not use VS 6 or 7 because it won't work with ISA 2004" or something similar.
Kind regards, Lex P.

Hi Lex,
>There says in the SDK manual that you need VB.NET >to program ISA filters. It says "absolutely do not >use VS 6 or 7 because it won't work with ISA 2004" >or something similar.
I am confused by your answer: My problem is not the ISA Web filter itself, it works. My problem is to port the UI from ISA 2000 to ISA 2004. Do you know a way how to setup a project that adds property pages to a weg filter? (In VS 6.0 there was a wizzard for that (See my prior posting)).
In the readme to the samples of the SDK there is sayed: "You must use VS.NET (VS 6.0 is not supported)."
From the about box of my VS: Microsoft Development Environment 2003 Version 7.1.3088, and below under Installed Products: Microsoft Visual c++ .NET 69586-335-000007-18192) So I tink that I meet the IDE crieria needed by the samples.

The correct quote from the SDK is:
"The recommended environment for developing application filters for ISA Server 2004 is Visual C++ .Net. All the samples provided on the ISA Server 2004 CD are ready to be compiled in Visual C++ .Net. Application filters can also be written and compiled in a Visual C++ 6.0 development environment. However, to use Visual C++ 6.0, you must install Visual C++ 6.0 Service Pack 5 and the Platform Software Development Kit (Platform SDK)."
..it dosn't restrict you to VS.NET, it just states that this is the preferred IDE.
