Hi All, I am trying to publish a web site through ISA using a public IP address, instead of a FQDN. I have about 6 other web sites on the server using FQDN's mapped to public IPs, and they are working fine, however setting it up using only the IP address seems to be causing a problem. The server works internally using its internal IP, but I get a 403 when I try to access it with its external IP. I've double checked the Incoming Web Requests settings, as well as the destination set and web publishing rules... can't hit it from either inside or outside the firewall. Any help or tips is appreciated. Thanks. -Warren

I don't think I understand. How have you published a website without using the ip address? I assume for the six sites you have external dns point to six different public ips which isa holds. Then ISA snats them to six private ips held by the webserver(s). If you follow the sam logic with the exception of the dns entry the mapping should work. You have created the external ip on isa and created a destination set with that address and snated it to the private address you wish to use? Can you make a request of the private address holding the website in question? Has the webserver been ruled out as the point of failure? Has a packet filter been created to support the publication? You are correct about my six other sites. I did follow the same logic, assuming it would work. I think I must have overlooked something but I'm stuck. I have added the external IP and set up a destination set. (with external IP as destination), and a web publishing rule that uses that destination set and points to the internal web server. The internal server works fine when entering the IP (10.x.x.x). I haven't created a packet filter, why would this be necessary for this connection? All other webservers are published with no problems. Thanks for the fast response.

For what its worth I solved this problem by mapping the IP address in question to a FQDN and setting it up just like my other servers.. I must have had something in the wrong spot before.. hmm.. -Warren
