I am publishing several web sites on different IP's using server publishing, one of these sites has a SSL certificate installed. Randomly, and there doesnt seem to be any pattern to it, the non SSL part of this site will stop working, i.e request will just timeout, while the SSL version of the site continues to work. To get the site working again, I have to restart the firewall service. I have tried deleting and remaking the publishing rules, but to no avail, I even changed the IP (internal and external) on which the site was published. It does not neccassarily seem to happen when the site is under large load. Incidentally, when it stops working, no other sites which are published on different IP addresses fail, they continue to work. If anyone has any ideas they would be greatly appreciated, am tearing hair out. Web publishing is not an ideal solution, as we want to capture the users real data on the web server for reports.

This looks like the problem described in Microsoft KB Article 319377. It is an ISA server bug for which there is a fix available.
