Hi,

we are running Active Directory in native mode, with an ISA server in integrated mode. We have enabled web folders and connecting to them via http works perfectly but when you try to connect a new netowrk place from your pc to enable you to save info back to the web folder when it asks for username and password and you supply the correct details it comes back straight away as if the credentials are incorrect... on clicking cancel it tells you that the folder is not found. I think it may be something to do with authentication... any ideas???

Have tried uping the connection time from 120secs to 300 secs.

hope you can help

Jane

Hi Jane!

It sound like you can have one of two possible problems:

First wich authentication method do you use?

Is it thru the ISA proxy (external connections thru isa proxy) or internal connections who wont work?

If it is external client connections check this out:

Understanding ISAÆs different Authentication types:
http://www.isaserver.org/tutorials/Understanding_ISAs_different_Authentication_types.html

Read more about this on MS sites too.

Basic Authentication
Can be intercepted because it is sending the credentials in clear text over network. Use this one with SSL.

Digest authentication
This method of Authentication will only function in windows 2000 domains. NOT thru proxy.

Integrated authentication
Works thru proxy but stores passwords in clear text in AD. Using an IE browser later that 5.5 is strongly recommended.

And after checking this out take a look at this:

ISAserver.org Newsletter of August 2002

Having Problems with Frontpage or WebDAV? Try this tip from Giles:

Applying SP1 is not enough, you have to manually add the following registry key:

HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\W3Proxy\Parameters

Value Name: PassOPTIONSToPublishedServer
Data Type : REG_DWORD
Data : 1
Default : 0

Set this parameter to 1. The data can be any non-zero value.

This is described in Q304340 of MS Knowledge Base. Stop and restart the W3Proxy service.

Simply applying SP1 does not fix the problem. After that it works..

Hopefully some of this is gonna help you solve the problem!

Good luck!
