Hey everyone,

I have Web Proxy service going just fine. But as I monitor it with the ISA Server Performance monitor, in the graph for Requests/sec it basically drops down to zero every few minutes. Then starts back up again.

Thanks,

Jon

Hi Jon,

I don't think that indicates that the Web Proxy service died. The performance monitor just gives information regarding ongoing connects based on the update interval you've configured.

HTH,
Tom

Hi Tom,

It just seem very abnormal for the requests/sec to drop to zero then starts back up again. I don't think it's ISA Server Performance monitor that does it.

Its getting around 330 ~ 350 Requests/sec updated every 5 secs, then about 4 mins later it drops to 0 for 10 secs and starts back up again. It would repeat this about every 4 mins.

It just seems weird.

Thanks,

Jon

Hi Jon,

It does seem weird. Do the clients experience any timeouts or slow responses during these periods?

Thanks!
Tom

Hi Tom,

I felt slow response as the Requests/sec starts dropping towards 0. The odd thing is as 'Current Users' increases to a certain point that's when it'll start dropping.

Could it be a connection limit setting that's causing this?

Thanks,

Jon

Hi Jon,

Indeed it could. Check the Alerts node and exceeding a connection limit with automatically generate an Alert.

Hi Tom,

After checking the Alert node, nothing is being reported about connection limit exceeded.

After a bit more monitoring, I notice that during heavy traffic times the 'Current Users' counter will raise higher than the previous time before dropping. It seems that it can handle more connections, maybe it just does it during certain time intervals?

I'll keep looking in to it, thanks for the help.

Jon
