I am trying to get my website (perimeter) to connect to the oracle database in the Internal network. I know it uses port 1521 so I created an acces rule for this port. A TNSPing goes perfectly, but I cant open a sql connection. Are there other ports I missed?

Hi C,

Is this a name resolution issue?

Is the a route or NAT relationship between the Web server's Network and the SQL server's network?

Thanks!
Tom

I have made a routing rule from the perimeter to the internal network.

I edited the rule to set open all outbound traffic from the web server to the oracle database server. The website can now succesfull setup sqlnet traffic.

Since it works when I set it all open I don't think its a name resolution problem.

The thing is that Oracle Uses 1521 for a primary connection and secondary connection is made by dinamic allocation of port above 1024 by the Oracle Dispecher. So if You want a specific port You must configure Multitread Oracle server with fixed port that will be opened.
