Hi All,

Great forum.

I have a ISA 2K4 Server with 2 nics, one for public, one private.

On the internal network, as we are migrating from Novell, I have a bordermanager proxy server. On this server I have set the default gateway to the ISA box in hope I can cleanly get all traffic to go through the ISA box.

I have created a rule to allow all traffic out from the Bordermanager box and am getting the following errors.

People (who are using the bordermanager proxy) are also reporting the internet being very slow.

Basically my logs are reporting:- 0xc0040017 FWX_E_TCP_NOT_SYN_PACKET_DROPPED

see below:-

172.16.3.10 is the BM proxy server.

66.102.7.99 172.16.3.10 80 HTTP Denied Connection - - Internal External TCP 172.16.3.10 - - - - - - - - 43084 0 0 0 0xc0040017 FWX_E_TCP_NOT_SYN_PACKET_DROPPED 0x0 0x0 Firewall

Any ideas?

Hi David,

Sounds like the downstream device is a SecureNAT client of the upstream ISA firewall. You might be running into the 50 connection limit. There's a KB on this isssue, but I don't recall the number. I'll see if I can find it.

Thanks Tom,

Thats correct.

I have created a custom connection limit for this server however this is not helping.

Do I need any custom rules to get this setup working correctly?
