Hi Jason,

Thanks! I'm expecting this to be a busy forum starting next month. As an MVP, you should join the IAG SP2 tap, and you'll know what the big buzz is about.

Thanks!
Tom

Any idea when IAG 2007 SP2 will be released?

Anyone seen a detailed list of new/fixed features? About the only one that I'm looking forward to is Drive Mapping support for Vista within the IAG appliances, its the one that I get the most queries about at the moment.

Regards,
Michael.

Hi M,

Can't say for sure, but it shouldn't be too longer before SP2 is available.

Not sure about drive mapping support for Vista.

Hi Tom,

Now that IAG SP2 looks like it should be hitting the OEMs within the next few weeks, has drive mapping support finally be blessed with Vista support?

If the feature hasnt made it in, there are going to be issues for lots of sites running these type setups and lots of unhappy customers. I imagine with the delay with it, there must be issues...although it doesnt help when most to all home pc's i'm having to deal with are Vista.

Is there any official readme doc available from microsoft yet on exact fixes/features implemented? I've found a few rough lists online, but nothing official as yet.

Thanks,
Michael.

Hi Michael,

From the information I have, I don't see anything regarding changed functionality for Vista. That's not to say there isn't anything, because I doubt I have complete information, but I don't see any references to file sharing and Vista.

Hi Sandy,

You bet! That is a great opportunity for all of us to learn more about the fantatic IAG product. And with the release of IAG SP2, everyone will have a software .vhd download that you can have to test it and we can share information about our tests here on ISAserver.org.

Thanks!
Tom

Is IAG downloadable? I just can't find anything about downloading it. I only saw a vhd download, but i need a trial version for our test environment.

Thanks,

There is supposed to be a IAG 2007 SP2 .vhd download available soon. I haven't check on this lately, so not sure if it's there yet. When it is available, it will be available through the MS download center.

HTH,
Tom

Thanks Tom.
i also heard that the product will be only available thru hardware appliances manufactureres and not as a stand alone product or as an add-on for ISA/TMG.

cheers,
Haroun.

Hi Haroun,

IAG 2007 SP2 will be available as a .vhd download that you can use for evaluation. That's why SP2 is so important. As soon as it's released, we plan to do a lot of articles on IAG on this site.

Thanks!
Tom

You can get the .vhd from here:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/dd183099.aspx

Actually it's an "installable" .vhd sort of (you will get a key to activate the Windows 2003 on that VM). You can do a lot of testing and evaluation with it. You just need a free machine on which to install Hyper-V. For example, you can put a couple of physical NICs on that machine for creating external networks on Hyper-V. Create two external networks on Hyper-V, bind one to your current real internal network, and the other one you may bind it to a dedicated network between your real firewall(a dedicated NIC/interface on your firewall) and the Hyper-V server. So it will be like having a "real" IAG machine that you can publish on your firewall(for external access), and use it to publish real servers from your real internal network(or perimeters networks, depending where are your servers located, and how you have created the external networks on Hyper-V or where is the Hyper-V server itself located, for security purposes you may "totally" isolate it on a firewall "perimeter", "perimeter" made from perimeters).
Or simply build your own virtual lab. It's all about what you want to test.

The .vhd is accompanied by a nice doc regarding installation.
I'm sure Tom will come with a better guide.

Adrian

Hi Adrian,

Yes! I'm playing with the .vhd now. It's very nice and I'm hoping to get a ton of articles on IAG this year. It's a very interesting product. Seems simple on the surface but very difficult to extend. It'll be fun to get the community involved with this wide and deep product.

Tom
