I am dabbling with implimenting a backup route incase my Primary goes down. I though it would be pretty simple but in the routing rules i choose the only option that will allow me to select the checkbox to enable a backup route.

My question is how will it (ISA) know which dial up connection to use as the back up route as i have two dial up connections? the primary is my PPPoE connection.

And also what settings do I use for the Upstream server when configuring the settings for the primary route?

I checked out a tutorial on this site for routing rules but it was very brief and nonspecific. It was more of a "this is what you can do with routing rules" tutorial than a specific tutorial.

Thanks

Hi Antimatter,

The backup route is a dialup route while the primary is a dedicated connection. You can use the dialup entry as a primary route and have a dial up also as a backup.

The primary needs to be dedicated.
