Hi Everyone:

Say, I was wondering, I have a situation where the ISA server sits between the trusted network and border router (a Cisco 3500). Do I have to set the ISA as Default Gateway or can I set the router ip as default gateway on clients? The thing is, I don't necessarily want to perform network address translation on the clients for other reasons. Thanks,

Mark

Thanks. So if I want to use it as a firewall, then there is no choice but to make everyone a secure NAT client? Hmmm. When does the next version come out?

Hi, me again. I was just going through some other message boards under "ISA Server Misc.>>Tips and Tricks>>Tips for MSN, Yahoo, Kazaa" and found a post by Tom that reads "I guarantee that it works. But the clients must be configured as Firewall clients ONLY. If they are configured as SecureNAT clients, by can access the mspclnt.ini settings."

[Confused] My question is how can a client NOT be a Secure NAT client while still being a firewall client? I'm sorry if this is a dumb question, but I'm confused. [Confused]
Thanks for any input.

Mark

No problem
By defenition the secure nat client is anyone that uses the ISA server as there defualt gateway, they are bould tothe protocol defines in the protocol definitions

The firewall client negotiates with the firewall service.take a look at these
