Hello All,

I am new to the ISA world and have a couple questions aobut ISA server installation that I hope I can get answered. First, I need to know where I need to locate the server inside my current firewall so I can protect OWA. I currently have a software firewall that is running NAT and I need to place this ISA server on this side of the firewall before it gets to my Exchange box. I have attached a small pic of what I have. Second, Am I going to need 2 nics for this to get accomplished? My firewall NAT's the exchange info from a public number to a private number and I need to find out if that number is going to need to be changed or if there is a was to route it without changing the address. Any input is GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks

Hi

I may be missing the point but why not dump the software firewall totally, throw in a ISA 2004 box with 2 nics. Get the ISA box to NAT the traffic, and then use certificates to secure OWA.

I wish it were that easy but there are other things that firewall does. It's a Netware box that had to stay in place. What i wanted to do was put the ISA server on the other side of the firewall but wasn't sure if I could do that with 2 nics. Otherwise I guess I can setup ISA with 2 nics and direct that jsut to my exchange server. I was just looking for some input on that. Thanks.

Hey NWAdmin,

All you need is create a IP segment between your existing Firewall and the ISA server.

Then from your existing firewall you will allow all trafic from the ISA server (outbound) and set it up as WEB proxy CASH server (Taking advantage of the good cash services ISA offer) and for inbound those protocolos you want to publish it and configure the ISA server as front end server for those publishing services you might want it.

There are several document in this web site that you may want to read about this. Just search by Exchange and you will get almost all you need.

Have fun...
