Can I use all three ISA clients on a workstation, S-NAT, Proxy and Firewall client. I would like to monitor all sessions firewall and proxy by username. I would also like to limit the firewall and proxy sessions via username. Would it make sense to install all three client to achieve the senarios above?

Thank in advance.

Mike

Hi Mike,

if you want to use user/group based access control, you should configure the clients as Web Proxy and Firewall clients. For more info, check out:
- http://www.isaserver.org/tutorials/ISA_Clients__Part_2_SecureNAT_and_Web_Proxy_Client.html
- http://www.isaserver.org/tutorials/ISA_Clients__Part_3_The_Firewall_Client.html

To understand how the Firewall client works, check out my articles:

HTH,
Stefaan

Absolutely.
However, many people find that access rules by IP doens't work too well in a DHCP environment!

Whoops.. let me clarify.
quote:
by user/group based access and also by IP Address
ISA can do both.. but not SIMULTANOUSLY. S&C rules can only apply to one criteria...
