Ok.. back to basics.. Just reinstalled after not playing for quite some time.. Anyway, the ONLY way I can get clients to get out to the internet is to create a IP filter with outbound Dynamic port even tho ive created an outbound protocol rule allowing HTTP, etc.. Also, i have to configure each client to use a proxy even tho i dont wanna use the cache.. scratching my head. internal is 192.x and external is public. no gateway on internal nic.. all other clients point to default gate as internal 192 addy.. THIS WAS working ONCE??? geeezz Is your book out to print yet Tom??? and does Bookpool plan to get it??

Hi Bill, The book will be sent out in just 4 days! Its been along wait, and I can't wait to get mine too! You shouldn't have to create any packet filters, just enable packet filtering and then create an "all open" Protocol Rule like I describe in the getting started article in the Learning Zone. If that doesn't work, try reinstalling. I know it sounds like FM, but reinstalling really does seem to help a LOT of people. HTH< Tom ------------------ Tom Shinder http://www.isaserver.org/shinder/

ok..well i got the IP Filter disabled and it will still work but only as long as Ive specified the PROXY server configuration in each client browser.. I shouldnt have to do that if each def gateway is the internal nic of the ISA box right??? (this is a non-routed single segment internal network)

Hi Bill, I don't think you're ready for the McD's Certified Hamberger Flipper yet! DNS configuration issues are the most common. Hey, at least you discovered what was wrong! Thanks for the follow up! Tom ------------------ Tom Shinder http://www.isaserver.org/shinder/
