I have an ISA2K4SP1 server in pilot and am getting ready to put it in production (deploy to all my users) but I have this weird thing now and then with authentication prompts. I can cancel the prompt and it does not appear to have any impact but if I deploy, and my users get prompted, they will flood the helpdesk with calls.
The server is joined to AD and the test clients are both WP and FWC. In ISA, on the Internal Properties | Web Proxy tab, under Authentication, I have only "Integrated" selected.
My test client is XP/SP2 with all the latest hotfixes. None of my co-workers pilot testing (on W2K) see any authentication prompts.
I only get around one prompt per week and cannot repro at will but at times when I did get prompted, a CTRL - F5 may bring up the prompt after I cancelled it.
Anyone have any ideas? Sorry if this has been dicsussed before but I am at a loss as to what keywords to search for.

Just a thought, since it is just you, what is your "User Authentication" set to under your Security settings in IE.

Since your co-workers only run windows 2000 professional, have you tried to reproduce the popup with another windows XP pro machine with a test AD user account and your own account?

I have the same thing on my network and all of my ITS department have XP Pro SP1 or SP2, so it isn't exclusive to Windows 2000. I have no fix for this either. The prompt appears, I hit EXC and it goes away with no negative impact to whatever I'm doiong on my pc. Even stranger, this never used to happen until the last month or so. Maybe one of the MS hotfixes I've installed?

Thanks TJ, I think I got you turned around a bit. So far it is only my XP/SP2 box doing it. None of my co-workers on W2K are reporting it. All our users are on W2K at present but XP is in pilot now, soon to be unleashed on the masses.
At least I know now that I am not alone.

I too have only seen this on Windows XP. I have two Windows 2000 pc's that I myself use daily that have never had the prompt. All three of my XP machines have the prompt occasionally. I have similar software installed on all of them, and the software is not the normal for our users. I have a lot of network administrative and monitoring tools installed. I have not had normal users running XP outside of IT complain about the prompt. [ October 04, 2005, 12:21 PM: Message edited by: tjcarst ]

anyone had any luck with this issue. I've experienced the same symptoms on my xp pro workstations (all sp2) but have yet to confirm on my 2k workstations. We use Integrated authentication. Every once in a while (sometimes a few times a day) a user will be surfing and up will come a proxy login. you can cancel and things work fine but it's very odd and a new behaviour, say in the last month.
