Tom (or anyone else?)

could you tell me the reasons why ISA in FW/Integrated mode requires two NICs? What is the thinking behind it? I know that many a definition of a firewall says that it must have two interfaces, but want to fully understand the reasons why.

Status: offline 		To filter traffic between two seperate logical networks, and controll access between the two.

With no sepration between the two connecting machines(ISA Firewall) they would be able to directly access each other without restriction.

The two NICs are needed to provide the connection point(or gateway) between the two(or more) networks.

a firewall can only control traffic which is going *through* the firewall.
