Hi

I'm trying to find out if there is any major issues if I upgrade (clean install) my Win2003 server to Windows 2008. This without messing to much with my edge/main firewall ISA 2006 std.

The Windows 2003 server is running DC, AD, DHCP, DNS, VPN.

My server is named Serv1, can I give that name to the "new" server as well as the same IP-adress?
Or do I need to remove/change all my ISA rules in order to use the new server?

Ben

Hi Ben,

do you want to install ISA 2006 on Windows 2008?
If so, it doesn´t work on any version of windows 2008

Paulo Oliveira.

Thank You for your answer.
However this is not relevant for my main question.

I don't want to mess at all with my ISA 2006 server.

I just want to change my main server's OS to Win2008, and keep the old server name and settings for my network. Such as DHCP/DNS adress table.

And if possible keep the settings in ISA since im not really chaning anything exept the OS

Is this even remotely possible? If not I guess my Christmas vacation is saved

Ben

Hi Ben,

if you not intend to remove the win 2003 from ISA, then I see no problem about that!

Just a few remarks: ISA doesn´t support x64 bits OS or IPv6.

Regards,
Paulo Oliveira.
